7 munaa - 7 eggs

Viikon mittaan pesään on ilmestynyt kokonaiset seitsemän munaa, ja naaras on alkanut hautomaan niitä. En ole ihan tarkkaan seurannut kaikkia kuvia kuluneelta viikolta, mutta näyttää etta munia taisi tulla tiheämpään tahtiin kuin talitiaisen kellolleen tarkka 1 muna vuorokaudessa.



Durign the week, a total of 7 eggs have appeared in the nest. The female flycatched has started incubating the eggs. I haven't checked out all the images from the past week,but it seemed that more than one egg per day appeared in the nest.

Muninta alkoi - Laying eggs has started

Eilen illalla tultuamme kotiin mökiltä, pöntössä oli kaksi munaa. Niitä oli lauantain aikana täytynyt tulla kaksi, sillä perjantaina niitä ei vielä näkynyt. Tänään sunnuntaina munia tuli vielä yksi lisää. Myös ylpeä isä on käynyt tarkastamassa tilanteen.



Yesterday evening when we returned from the summer cottage, there were two eggs in the nest. Both of them had appeared during yesterday. Today one more egg appeared. Also the proud father had visited the nest to check out the situation.

Pesänrakennus on alkanut - Building the nest has started

Nyt kirjosiepponaaras on alkanut rakentaa pesää kamerapönttöön. Koiras häärii kyllä pöntön ulkopuolella, mutta pesän teko näyttää olevan vain naaraan työtä. Olimme poissa kotoa kolme päivää ja luulin ettei mitään ole sillävälin tapahtunut, mutta pöntön tilannetta blogisivulle päivittävä bash-skripti olikin vain jumittunut.



The female pied flycatcher has started building a nest in the camera box. While the male does hang around the box, the actual building work seems to be a job for the female only. We were away from home for three days and I thought that nothing has happened, but the bash script that updates the picture on the blog had just hung.

Uusia vierailijoita pitkän hiljaisuuden jälkeen - New visitors after a long silence

Pöntössä on ollut niin hiljaista, että aloin jo epäillä, saadaanko sinne asukkaita tänä vuonna lainkaan. Ainoa vieras yli viikkoon on ollut kevääseen herännyt kimalainen. Parina viime vuonna tähän aikaan talitiaisen muninta oli sentään jo alkanut.

Tänään sitten asuntoa olivat käyneet katsomassa sekä tiainen että kirjosieppo. Ehkä vielä kuitenkin saadaan jotain seurattavaa.



A long silence in the bird box got me already thinking that maybe we aren't getting any birds nesting there this year. The only visitor for over a week has been a bumblebee woken up by the spring weather. For the past two years by this time, the tits had started laying eggs already.

Then all of a sudden both a flycatcher and a great tit had visited the box today, hopefully looking for a new home.
